Regional President Fernando López Miras will officially open next Tuesday the “most international” FMY edition.

Thanks to a new image, renovated spaces and several trade missions (face-to-face and virtual), Yecla Furniture Fair will be launched all over the world.

THE 61ST EDITION, WITH THE MOTTO ‘UP CLOSE’, WILL BE HELD FROM 23 TO 26 MAY

The president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, will officially open next Tuesday, May 23, the 61st edition of the Yecla Furniture Fair (FMY), an edition with the motto ‘Up close’ and that will become the “most international” of all those held in the last years.

At the official opening, which will take place from 11.00 am, the president will be joined by Yecla mayoress and president of FMY Executive Committee, Remedios Lajara, as well as FMY director, Juan Miguel Zornoza, among other authorities. After giving statements to the media and touring the more than 90 participating stands, the exhibition will be officially inaugurated.

For this edition, the prestigious designer Romualdo Faura has been commissioned to design all the advertising graphics, with an image and a motto that accurately convey what Yecla and its furniture fair offer: a unique ecosystem. The ecosystem of a city that lives by and for the Habitat Sector and that brings together, within a radius of just ten kilometers, one of the largest clusters of companies, entrepreneurs and workers in Spain devoted to the industry, with the trade fair as its core.

The fair’s new image is also a statement of intent, with the renovation of living spaces and commitment to innovation and sustainability. Evidence of this was the recent presentation of the InterCIDEC Awards 2023, the International Design Awards for Contract Environments, in the exhibition center’s renovated conference room.

Among this year’s new features, the most outstanding will undoubtedly be a strong international attendance, with a strong focus on the European market, as a result of several trade missions (in person and virtual) that will enable the event to be promoted in strategic markets such as Italy, Portugal, Morocco, France, Germany, England and Mexico. Not to mention the platform of the Virtual Furniture Fair Yecla, in which fifty companies will take part in the 61st edition.

The other challenge of the event has been to boost exposure outside the Region of Murcia, with the presentation, for the first time in its history, in Madrid, an event that was made possible with the support of the Council for Entrepreneurship, Social Economy and Freelancers, led by María del Valle Miguélez.

MORE THAN 90 EXHIBITORS AT THE HABITAT HALL

The more than 90 exhibitors who have confirmed their attendance will ensure that all the different branches of the sector will be featured at the Yecla habitat show: contract, upholstery, rest, furniture, decoration, services and related industries. Furthermore, it should be noted that 10% of these firms will be visiting us for the first time.

Innovation in furniture, timber and related industries is a fact that, year after year, we have displayed through exhibitors who visit our space at the Yecla Furniture Fair (FMY). An innovation that, in most cases, is connected to sustainable value, circularity or industrial processes which are more environmentally friendly.

Among the firms participating this year, one of the stands that visitors will find in our exhibition space, and always draws the attention of professionals, is that of the Furniture and Wood Technology Centre of the Region of Murcia (CETEM), which this year comes to the FMY with a new research project on the metaverse applied to furniture industry.

Visitors will be able to see how virtual reality and physical reality mix and interact, in such a way that, with virtual reality glasses, it will be possible to access a room with real furniture and place decorative elements in a virtual way, with both realities interacting.

    AGENDA

On the first day of the event, following the official opening by the regional president, at 12 noon the jury will visit the exhibitors’ stands for the Best Stand Design Award FMY 2023. In the afternoon, at 3 p.m., Exencia Purchasing Group meeting will take place in the Multi-purpose Hall and, finally, at 6 p.m., the award for the best Stand Design of this edition will be granted. This will take place at the Arema stand, by the Directorate General for Consumer Affairs and Crafts of the Region of Murcia.

On Wednesday 24th, the traditional Sales Representatives’ Day will be held, with the participation of the Murcia and Alicante Regional Associations of Sales Representatives, which will acknowledge their members’ professional careers. This will take place at 6.00 p.m. at the COAC stand. Before that, at 3 p.m., the BNI Cúpula Meeting will take place in the revamped conference room.

The agenda for the third day, Thursday 25, will be marked by the presentation of the fifteenth AREMA (Association of Furniture and Wood Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia) Annual Award, which this year has been awarded to the College of Interior Designers/Decorators of the Region of Murcia (CODID-RM). In the morning, at 9.30 a.m. in the multi-purpose hall, there will be a presentation of the ‘Project for the social and occupational integration of people with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disorders’, an activity organised by the Yecla Town Council in collaboration with Ecus Sleep and Gobik.

The official closing of the 61st edition of the Yecla Furniture Fair will take place on Friday 26th, from 1pm, by Remedios Lajara, Yecla Mayoress and President of the Executive Committee of the FMY. It will take place at the Leisure/Business area, where attendees will be able to enjoy a wine to toast to the next trade fair edition.
