Reconexión, ocio, negocio e internalización son las claves de la 59 edición de la Feria del Mueble Yecla

Reconnection, leisure, business and internationalisation are the keys to the 59th edition of the Yecla Furniture Fair.

President of the Region of Murcia will officially open the event, in which more than 80 exhibiting firms are taking part.

The countdown to the 59th edition of the Yecla Furniture Fair (FMY) has begun. A very special event to reconnect with the great family of furniture, timber and related sectors. From 20 to 23 October we will discover the great habitat relational ecosystem, the commitment to innovation, and design value which connects with the soul.

It will be officially opened on Wednesday 20 October at 10:00 am, with the presence of Fernando López Miras, president of the Region of Murcia, and other authorities, to start reconnecting again. In fact, our 59th edition poster, designed by Jose Azorín, develops this concept of reconnecting, “to re-establish physical communication after the months of isolation experienced”, as he himself explained.

The presence during these six decades has made the venue our home, a place of coexistence and connection in which we have grown up. Therefore, in order to celebrate the reunion, a full agenda has been prepared, which invites us to create an ecosystem in which relations between professionals are more personal and closer.

The importance of creating a warm atmosphere to reconnect and enjoy, will be possible thanks to the leisure and business space. Furniture quality, as evidenced by the more than 80 exhibiting companies, will be wrapped in the magic of music: piano, clarinet, bossa nova and jazz, which will seduce our senses. There will also be time to talk about spaces “with senses”, cybersecurity, sales agents’ status, or try out the mixed reality experience.

Parallel activities outside the venue will also take centre stage at this year’s fair. The FMY wants to encourage customers to visit the production centres to learn about the origin, development and design of the large catalogue of products offered by the exhibiting companies.

FMY launches its internationalisation through the face-to-face and virtual world.

We are the 8th Spanish province in furniture exports in 2020. The need to create a habitat that inspires us and offers us comfort has boosted export growth in furniture, timber and related sectors, which reached 80.3 million in 2020. A strategic sector creating more than 11% of the region’s industrial employment.

This 60th anniversary, symbol of our legacy, our present and future, focuses on the enhancement of the concept of home, of habitat. “We are aware of the moment we are going through as a society and of the new purchasing priorities of the end customer. At FMY we work to meet the needs of our customers and promote the furniture cluster, through integrated projects, retail and large-scale furnishings”, remarks the Fair’s director, Patricia Cuadrillero.

Murcia furniture prestige beyond our borders will also be reflected in the visit to the venue of potential customers from Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal, thanks to the reverse trade mission managed by the Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia (INFO), with the support of the Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters (ANIEME). Furthermore, commitment to internationalisation through the virtual platform is key in this edition. Ivory Coast, Senegal, Morocco and Qatar are the reference markets for this strategy, in which “we have planned more than 150 job interviews”, says the director of INFO, Joaquín Gómez.

This event, which is the result of the effort and motivation of countless people and exhibitor firms, is also feasible thanks to strategic partnerships, including the Regional Association of Furniture and Timber Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia (AREMA); INFO;  the Official Association of Commercial Agents (COAC) of the Region of Murcia; the Official Association of Interior Designers / Decorators of the Region of Murcia (CODID-RM); the Technological Centre of Furniture and Timber of the Region of Murcia (CETEM), retailers’ associations and a host of strategic agents in the sector.

The event will, of course, comply with all current health measures. Beauty aesthetics, the art of design, innovation, reunion, virtual challenge and the spread of our sector will be the leitmotiv of this eagerly awaited edition. We look forward to seeing you there!
