31 May The next edition of the FMY will be held from 27th to 30th May 2025
It is also worth noting the increase in participating companies, including around thirty companies from outside the Region of Murcia
THE 62ND EDITION CAME TO A CLOSE TODAY WITH A 20% INCREASE IN VISITORS
The Yecla Furniture Fair (FMY) wrapped up its 62nd edition today with the closing ceremony officiated by the president of the Executive Committee of the FMY and mayoress of Yecla, Remedios Lajara, announcing the dates for the next edition of the event: from 27th to 30th May 2025.
Lajara has highlighted the 20% increase in visitors compared to the previous edition, as well as the great business activity seen in the fair, with almost 100 exhibitors participating, around 30 of which were from out of the Region of Murcia. All this added up to 22 new exhibitors compared to the previous year.
“Everything pointed to this being a good edition, as it was the first year in which exhibitors had to sign up on a waiting list. 22 new companies have. In addition, 22 new firms have visited us in comparison to the previous edition and there has been a large attendance of companies from outside the Region of Murcia”, the mayoress pointed out, which further confirms the success of this year’s slogan, ‘Come and grow’, because the FMY is undoubtedly a growth opportunity for the participating companies.
The president of the Executive Committee was very pleased with this 62nd edition, which has been qualified as “the most successful” of the last three years, meeting the expectations that they had “according to the general feeling of the participating exhibitors.” However, she also assured that, far from falling into complacency, they will work to further improve in the 63rd edition.
Indeed, one of the trademarks of the Yecla event is the commercial activity that takes place during the four days of the fair, something that Lajara has highlighted, “the real business has been done and that’s what’s important”, although she explained that, in the next few days, an Executive Committee will be summoned to further analyse the figures of the 62nd edition of the FMY.
The development of the trade missions promoted by the Development Institute (INFO) of the Region of Murcia was also important, as they put exhibitor firms in contact with countries such as the Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Norway and Finland. These delegations visited the exhibitors’ stands on the first day and, on the second day, they visited some of Yecla’s production centres to find out more about what they offer and how they operate.
In turn, Juan Miguel Zornoza, director of the FMY, highlighted “the great impression” made on the exhibitors from outside the Region of Murcia who visited the event for the first time, and stated that he was confident that they would come back in the upcoming editions. He also mentioned the commitment to the contract sector that the fair has made this year, with Paolo Mauri’s masterclass and David Cámara’s International Contract Day, which has exceeded all the organisers’ forecasts with half a hundred registrations.

Partnerships to keep on growing
A feature of the Yecla Furniture Fair is its ability to turn the fair into a meeting and networking space. In this 62nd edition, this has been confirmed by the nearly 100 participating firms, as well as by the presence and participation of the associations and organisations with which the FMY maintains strong alliances: the Technology Centre of Furniture and Wood of the Region of Murcia (CETEM), the Official Association of Commercial Agents (COAC), and the Regional Association of Entrepreneurs of Wood and Furniture of the Region of Murcia (AREMA), without forgetting the local and regional government.
Once again, the presence of CETEM has been a point of attraction at the habitat exhibition. The technology centre presented a new sustainable process for the recycling of polyurethane foam waste and its subsequent industrial reuse, all from a circular economy approach.
Another one of the strongest alliances is the one that the event maintains with the COAC, a project that takes place throughout the year but that reaches its peak during the fair, through the celebration of ‘Commercial Agent’s Day’, which took place on the second day with the tribute to two trade agents and the presentation of awards to the members who had achieved the highest number of visitor registrations.
However, perhaps one of the most moving moments of the FMY schedule was the presentation of the Arema Annual Award, which this year has served as a tribute to the legacy of the Yecla entrepreneur Juan Carlos Muñoz Melero, who passed away last February having received the award, with the unveiling of a monolith just outside the fair.
