The 4 most read articles on our blog in 2024

We are kicking off the new year with a look back at the 4 most read articles on our blog in 2024.

A way to look back and together review those topics which have most interested you.

Those posts that most caught your attention and received most views.

The FMY blog is a space for you.

It is the place where you can get to know everything about the furniture market, timber and their related industries.

To find out how the world of furniture, decoration and interior design is evolving.

To discover new markets and trends that will make your business grow.

The following 4 articles were the most read in 2024.

Let’s find out which ones they were:

The furniture market in 2024: growth forecast

In April we looked into the furniture market and its bright prospects for the future.

Development, projections and growth trends.

In last April’s article we analysed the current situation of furniture and timber markets.

This was done on the basis of the report Furniture market size and share analysis. Growth trends and forecasts (2024-2029), prepared by the specialised consultancy firm Mordor Intelligence.

In the report, the global furniture market volume was forecast to grow from $652 billion in 2023 to $688 billion by the end of 2024.

Some projections also indicated that in 2029 such figure will reach $903 billion (with an annual rate of +5,57%).

Finally, we analysed those markets which represented the best scenarios (North America and Asia), we learned how the contract channel is playing a leading role in the market and we focused on consumer habits and the role that the internet and technology are playing in our industry.

Immersive VR interior designing and artificial intelligence

In February, we dealt with virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence applied to the furniture market.

Technology applied to furniture is undoubtedly a matter of particular interest to you.

The second most read article was the one about the technological development in our field, and new digital tools which are evolving interior design, increasing its possibilities and making it more accessible.

We discussed immersive VR interior design, an innovation that is offering great advantages to businesses and enables their clients to enjoy a 100% digital experience in which they can tour virtual spaces and settings and furnish them without having to actually create them.

All this leads to significant cost savings and a great time and logistics optimisation.

In that article we also referred to specific tools and software which are already in use or under development that we think you should know about, such as SketchUp, Jump into Design ® and SmartDraw.

And of course, we mentioned CETEM and its Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+I) projects applied to the furniture industry.

Foreign markets of interest in the furniture industry: Senegal and Ivory Coast

Internationalisation was the main subject in July, with a particular focus on the African continent.

Another key issue for FMY and furniture businesses is industry internationalisation.

Opening to new foreign markets, their analysis and all their possibilities and growth prospects are some of the aspects that we have been dealing with on our blog.

This is why the article in which we analysed 2 scenarios such as Senegal and Ivory Coast, in the African continent, ranked as the third most read.

Imports, exports, trade relations with Spain (as far as the furniture and timber sector is concerned) and expansion potential such as the contract sector were the topics we covered.

We did so using data from our peers at ICEX.

We also mentioned last edition’s visit to our FMY by some international furniture promoters (from different countries including those involved in the article), organised by AREMA in collaboration with INFO Region of Murcia.

Contract channel: keys to professional spaces

In March, we discussed contract furniture, designed for professional and collective spaces.

Market, technology, internationalisation and, last but not least, the contract channel.

These have been the major 2024 trends on the FMY blog.

In fact, the one that closes our top 4 most read articles is the one devoted to the contract channel.

Design, manufacture, distribution and furniture assembly for professional and collective spaces.

Spaces undergoing a process of transformation, where we are no longer simply visiting them, but inhabiting them, being in them, not just staying in them.

They are evolving towards a 100% emotional interior design, based on technology and home automation. In the article we discussed all this and also analysed what a business like yours needs in order to expand in the contract channel.

We hope you found this tour enthralling.

From FMY, we will continue to develop topics like these to bring them to you every month.

Thank you for reading.
