FMY 63rd edition kicks off next Tuesday, bringing together more than 90 exhibitors and committing to internationalisation and Contract Industry

Training sessions, including two international masterclasses on Contract industry, as well as several presentations, the Business Agent Day and the Arema Annual Award stand out in this year’s schedule

REGIONAL PRESIDENT FERNANDO LÓPEZ MIRAS TO PRESIDE OVER THE OPENING CEREMONY

The president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras will officially inaugurate Yecla’s Furniture Fair (FMY)  63rd edition on Tuesday, 27th May. This year’s edition, under the slogan ‘I sit, therefore I sense’ stands out for its commitment to internationalisation and Contract Industry, as well as its masterclasses, including two international events, and several presentations.

The Mayoress of Yecla and President of the FMY Executive Committee, Remedios Lajara, and FMY Director, Juan Miguel Zornoza, among other authorities, will join the President of the Region during the official opening, starting at 11:00 am. After addressing the media and touring the more than 90 participating exhibitors, the fair will be officially opened.

Artist Lidó Rico, from Yecla, has been commissioned to create the advertising graphics for this edition, with a poster steeped in symbolism and poetry. By using photoluminescence techniques and the projected figure of himself, the artist represented the personality of furniture manufacturers as a juggler, as a metaphor of those entrepreneurs from Yecla that, with great effort and self-improvement, have made both Yecla and the Region of Murcia the heart and soul of the industry.

Once again, the event will welcome international participation. The Instituto de Fomento (INFO), responsible for FMY’s internationalisation for 20 years, has organised a trade mission that will engage several representatives of the industry from Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, England, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, France, Italy, Morocco and Switzerland.

In the FMY framework, the Business Agent Day (on Wednesday) will highlight the experience and the key role of a group of professionals for FMY’s development and growth. Moreover, as every year, a prize will be assigned for the best exhibition stand, considering concept, product distribution inside of it, accessibility, innovation and sustainability, textures, colours, lighting and technological equipment, among other criteria.

‘CONTRACT’ DAYS AND AREMA ANNUAL AWARD

In this 63rd edition of the FMY, the commitment to the “contract” industry deserves to be highlighted; especially relevant are the second edition of the ‘Contract, Interior Design and Hotel Equipment’ meeting, a two-day masterclass (on Wednesday and Thursday) led by the renowned Italian architect Paolo Mauri, and the International Contract Day (on Wednesday), coordinated by David Cámara. Both masterclasses will take place in the Leisure/Business Area of the FMY.

Another important appointment is the Arema Annual Award ceremony on Thursday 29th May at 10:30 am at Arema’s stand (D9b). Awarded by the Association of Furniture and Timber Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia, this year’s prize goes to SANCAL “for being an example of entrepreneurial evolution, with a more than 50-year-long path that made it a benchmark in furniture design both nationally and internationally”.

INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

More than 90 exhibitors have confirmed their attendance, covering all industry segments at FMY: Contract, upholstery, bedding, furniture, decoration, services, and related industries. It is worth highlighting that the majority of exhibitors are Yecla-based and from the Region of Murcia, which proves the importance of the Yecla furniture cluster within the industry.

At FMY, year after year, we have been innovating in the furniture, timber and related industries thanks to the exhibitors that participate in our event. In most of occasions, such innovation goes hand in hand with sustainability and circular economy values, and eco-friendlier industrial processes.

An example of this is given by the Furniture and Timber Technology Centre of the Region of Murcia (CETEM) that will once again surprise visitors at stand C9b with new projects focused on technological development, digital transformation and innovation in the furniture industry. Previous showcases have included a pioneer polyurethane foam recycling system, sustainability- and circular economy-oriented 3D printing, AI & Metaverse applications, mixed virtual reality applied to furniture projects, smart furniture technology to support elderly autonomy (Pharaon Project), and intelligent space monitoring solutions.

Finally, FMY will draw lots for a €2,000 voucher for purchases at exhibitors’ stands during this 63rd edition. The drawing of lots will include all visitors who place an order equal to or exceeding €1,000 during the four days of the event. A special prize consisting of a 200 Euro voucher will be granted for the salesperson carrying out the winning sale.
