FMY 62 opens next week with a distinctly international flavour and a firm commitment to the contract sector

Paolo Mauri’s masterclass and the International Contract Day, coordinated by David Cámara, will be the highlights

PRESIDENT LÓPEZ MIRAS TO OPEN THE FAIR

The president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, will officially open next Tuesday 28th May the 62nd edition of the Yecla Furniture Fair (FMY), an edition with the slogan ‘Come and grow’ and which stands out for its international scope and a firm commitment to ‘contract’.

At the official opening, which will take place from 11.00 am, the regional president will be joined by the mayoress of Yecla and president of the Executive Committee of the FMY, Remedios Lajara, and the director of the FMY, Juan Miguel Zornoza, among other authorities. After making statements to the media and visiting the nearly 100 participating stands, the fair will be officially declared open.

This year’s advertising graphics have been created by the prestigious Murcia-based illustrator Ana Galvañ, from Yecla, to highlight the opportunity for growth that the FMY has always represented for exhibiting companies. With a narrative style, clear lines and bright colours, this year’s advertising graphics underline the role of the fair as the industry’s hub, new business opportunities and synergies.

Among this year’s novelties, one of the most outstanding features will be the significant international attendance, focused on the European market and also on emerging markets, thanks to the holding of several trade missions that will allow the FMY to project the fair beyond our borders. As a result, the exhibition centre will be visited by specifiers and purchasing representatives from Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal and Russia.

A firm commitment to contract

This 62nd edition of the FMY will include a three-day masterclass by the prestigious Italian architect Paolo Mauri and an International Conference on Contract, coordinated by the prestigious David Cámara.

Paolo Mauri, who has more than 60 hotel projects spread all over the world, will speak from Tuesday 28th to Thursday 30th May, always at 4 p.m., on how to earn a hotel project, methods used to submit it and how to ensure its success with the appropriate resources and tools.

Meanwhile, the prestigious contract professional, David Cámara, director of the Business Association of Habitat, its internationalization and Contract (UNEX), will coordinate an International Contract Conference on Wednesday 29 May at 11.00 am, a meeting that has the collaboration of the FMY, the Institute of Development of the Region of Murcia (Info) and the support of the Association of Entrepreneurs of Furniture and Wood of the Region of Murcia (Arema).

Yecla Furniture Fair’s Best Stand 2024 Award, which will be awarded on the first day, Tuesday 28th May, at 6.00 p.m. and also the celebration of the Sales Agent’s Day, which is traditionally held on the second day and which will reach its peak at 6.00 p.m. at the stand of the Official Association of Sales Agents (COAC) of the Region of Murcia, which will acknowledge its members’ professional careers. Awards will also be conferred on the COAC professionals who have attracted most visitors to this event’s 62nd edition.

Another important event is the Arema Annual Award Ceremony, on Thursday 30 May at 10.30 a.m., outside the exhibition centre (Plaza Industrial del Mueble). This year the award, granted by the Association of Furniture and Timber Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia, will take the form of a commemorative monolith in memory of Juan Carlos Muñoz Melero, an industrialist from Yecla who recently passed away, for his dedication to the furniture and timber industry. On Friday 31st, at 1pm, the Mayoress of Yecla and President of the FMY Executive Committee, Remedios Lajara, will close the event and announce the dates for the next edition. Lastly, it is worth mentioning that this year FMY has organised a prize draw for a cheque worth 2,000 euros to be spent among the exhibitor firms at the 62nd edition. This cheque will be drawn among all visitors who place an order of at least 1,000 euros during the event duration.

More firms and larger exhibition space

This year it is worth highlighting the growth experienced by the event in terms of participating firms, nearly 100, and also in terms of exhibition space. The 62nd edition will have the largest exhibition space in recent years, due to an increase in exhibition areas.

The nearly 100 exhibitors who have confirmed their attendance will ensure that all industry branches will be represented at the Yecla-based habitat show: contract, upholstery, rest, furniture, decoration, services and related industries. The most notable features are the twenty or so new firms that will be present at FMY, as well as the fact that, of the hundred or so exhibitors, a total of 35 are from outside the Region of Murcia.

Innovation in the furniture, timber and related industries is a fact that, year after year, we have displayed through the exhibitors who visit our space at the Yecla Furniture Fair (FMY). An innovation that, in most cases, is linked to the value of sustainability, circularity or more environmentally friendly industrial processes. Such is the case of the Technological Centre of Furniture and Timber of the Region of Murcia (CETEM), which this year attends the FMY to present a new sustainable procedure for the recycling of polyurethane foam waste and its further industrial reuse, with an approach focused on the circular economy.
