REYES ORDOÑEZ WINS BEST EXHIBITION STAND AWARD
Yecla’s Furniture Fair 63rd edition was officially inaugurated this Tuesday by the President of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, and the President of FMY Executive Committee and Mayoress of Yecla, Remedios Lajara. On its second day, it presented one of the most relevant events: “International Contract Day. Strategic international markets of proximity: Morocco, UK and Portugal. Keys, challenges and opportunities”.
Coordinated by the renowned international expert David Cámara, Unex director, Commissioner of the Contract Plan of the Region of Murcia and pioneer in the Canal Contract in Spain and Latin America/the Caribbean, and organized by the Instituto de Fomento of the Region of Murcia (INFO) and FMY, this meeting has caught all participants’ attention in the Leisure/Business Area.

International Contract Day has focused on strategic international markets of proximity in the furniture industry: Morocco, the UK and Portugal. Joining Cámara, a panel of experts has shared their strategies, know-how and experiences regarding the Contract industry specifically. Catalina Arciniegas (Chris Turner Procurement), Anas El Kharras and Zineb Larhlid (The Great Hospitality), Hélder Carneiro (Eltres LDA) and Víctor Medina (Variación Diseño, S.L.) have highlighted the strategic relevance of geographically close markets that maintain strong connections with equally interesting but furthest markets, such as the Caribbean and the Middle East, both attending the Mediterranean Contract Forum.
Alongside them, Claudio Escarpenter (CCCRA Architects & Engineers), Marcela Montes (Mariano Farrugia S.L.), Cynthia Román (Cynthia Román Interiorismo), Marta Matías and Antonio del Vas (DelVas Matías Arquitectos) and Víctor Medina (Variación Diseño, S.L.) have set up a round table on their entrepreneurial experiences.
Additionally, the first part of the two-day masterclass by the renowned Italian architect Paolo Mauri, titled “Contract, Interior Design and Hotel Equipment” has taken place. On this first day, he focused on narrowing down the definition of “hotel project”, to better identify the stakeholders involved in its planning and presentation stages.

He has also illustrated the right methodology to successfully present a hotel project, identifying the actors involved, highlighting the differences between projects for hotel chains and for independent ones, and sharing some advice on creative brainstorming and addressing key steps such as choosing materials and interacting with the client.
INTERNATIONAL DELEGATIONS
Furthermore, international delegations, invited as a part of the trade missions promoted by the Instituto de Fomento of the Region of Murcia (INFO), have been meeting in Yecla since the very first fair day. On the inauguration day, they had the chance to visit the fairground and the participants’ exhibition stands.

These delegations represent the international markets selected for this year’s trade missions: Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, the UK, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, France, Italy, Morocco and Switzerland. These international visitors were provided with a dossier listing the exhibitors from the 62nd edition of the fair and their contacts, aiming to turn them into potential clients.
