29 May Arema recognises with its annual award SANCAL’s more than 50 years of experience, ‘a benchmark in the furnishing industry’
The fair hosted the second session of Paolo Mauri’s masterclass and a lecture on circular economy in the furniture industry
COAC AWARDED YESTERDAY TWO OF ITS AGENTS FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS
This Thursday, on the third day of the Furniture Fair Yecla (FMY), the Regional Association of Furniture and Wood Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia (Arema) has recognised the Yeclano company SANCAL with the annual fair’s celebration’s award.
On this occasion, the Governing Board of the association has decided to grant the award to SANCAL, Arema’s associate since 1983, for being ’an example of business evolution since it was born in 1973.’ The award ceremony was attended by the founders of the company, Santiago Castaño and Concha López, as well as Elena Castaño, representing the current management. The latter received the award from FMY’s Executive Committee president and Yecla’s mayoress, Remedios Lajara. Arema’s president, José Antonio Ortega, and the general secretary, Patricia Cuadrillero, were also present.

‘This Award values a family’s efforts with over 50 years’ trajectory, which has positioned the company as one of the benchmarks in furniture design at national and international level, and which has also been fairly recognised through the National Design Award in its 2024 edition,’ emphasised the association.
In this regard, Arema thanked the Castaño family for ‘their effort and social commitment, as they have always valued their local resources and professionalism along with their active integration in the different regional business organisations. The company has clearly helped the furniture and wood sector to be recognised today as an industrial pole of quality and a benchmark for furnishings.’

Arema’s Annual Prize is awarded in gratitude for the effort and support of companies, people or institutions, because the aim behind these awards is to recognise those who have worked for and with the sector, and who have made it grow. ‘We are aware that we evolve thanks to the efforts of all those involved in the production process, and the Yeclano company SANCAL’s trajectory has made an important part of this effort,’ Arema concluded.
PAOLO MAURI’S MASTERCLASS CLOSURE

The third day of the fair also saw the closure, with the presentation of diplomas to the participants, of Paolo Mauri’s second edition of the masterclass ‘Contract Interior Design and Hotel Equipment.’ Mauri, one of the world’s most prestigious architects in the contract sector, offered the keys to successfully developing a contract project in four thematic blocks on Wednesday and Thursday.
Specifically, on Thursday, Paolo Mauri addressed the keys to coordinating and managing multidisciplinary teams, focusing on interior design, architecture and engineering as well as Project Management. He also discussed how to ensure the success of hotel projects, considering the necessary resources and tools: suppliers, materials and equipment, together with the monitoring of the project.
This FMY penultimate day also included an interesting presentation by Alaska Circular, a company committed to social impact and circular economy. During the conference, which took place at 4 p.m. in the fair’s Leisure/Business Space, they highlighted how important circular economy is in the furniture sector.

SALES AGENT’S DAY
Furthermore, on this Wednesday was also celebrated one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the Yeclano event: The Sale Agent’s Day. This is an annual meeting to remember the alliance that FMY has maintained, since the 70s, with commercial agents specialised in the furniture sector and with their professional corporation, i.e. Commercial Agents Official Corporation of Murcia and Cartagena (COAC), a work that makes them a ‘loudspeaker’ for Yecla Furniture Fair’s differential value.
The event has served for COAC to pay tribute to their colleagues’ trajectory, especially to Antonio Barquero Valverde and Francisco García Llort, who have been working in the furniture sector for more than 40 years and who are ‘an example of dedication and professionalism’.
The recognition ceremony took place at COAC’s stand and was attended by the president of FMY’s Executive Committee and Yecla’s mayoress, Remedios Lajara, accompanied by the director of the event, Juan Miguel Zornoza, among other authorities.
